Helpful Advice for Writers
December 18, 2009 9:01 am Online PromotionDepending on who you ask, writing articles can be a very pleasurable and rewarding experience, or it can be a major pain. I happen to believe that it's a lot of fun, though there are certain ways to achieve success that others might struggle with.
The concept of coming up with things to write about, and then knowing what to write, can be a challenge. Still, there are strategies that make this easy and enjoyable.
While it always requires a bit of hard work, the process of writing articles can be made much easier by applying a few basic rules. Keep some of the things I'm about to discuss in mind and you'll do well.
If you map out the purpose of your article in advance, as opposed to simply writing what comes to mind, things will be easier. The best way for me to do this is to think of a subject, then basing my article around a list.
Yet another really easy means of writing has always been that of telling stories based on my own experience. Whether it's something you did a long time ago, or a more recent event that led you to feel a certain way about something, retelling the events and interjecting your thoughts will easily lead to an article that flows well and captures the minds of your readers.
If I have a number of articles to churn out in one sitting, I'll usually try to set short term goals. I'll race against the clock in the hopes of beating the time I've allocated to the task. This keeps me focused with an end in sight.
Since writing is a tedious process, I also like to remind myself of this by giving myself small rewards for finishing and achieving certain goals. In doing this, I'll always have something to look forward to at the end.
The final thing that I'm going to mention is a simple thing that goes a very long way. The faster you type, the more you'll be able to get done. Play some games that focus on your typing speeds. Not only are they fun, but they definitely pay off over time.
