With pay per click (PPC or CPC) banner advertising we have an advantage when testing a website and a market. Banner Advertising in this manner is within the reach of most any business person. With this advertising model we only pay if someone clicks on the banner. This is important if we are testing something new and not quite sure if the market will receive the offer.

This is a skilled profession to place advertisements and match the markets. Just slapping up banners in most cases is going to fail if we do not have the set of skills to do this properly. This is not difficult but we do need to have some knowledge and take action. This is a booming high profit way to make money on the Internet.

What is great about this is there is no waiting to get indexed by search engines or hope to be seen. The great thing is banner advertising is coming into its own form and is becoming incredibly powerful as much as ranking in the engines. After you build up your money you can do more and make more than ranking in the engines. If you research most affiliate programs say that their highest paid people are usually pay per click advertisers. Organic search engine ranking is powerful but advertising has its advantages.

Researching who visits websites is incredibly important before we advertise there. Even though it is pay per click, we only pay if someone responds, we can still miss target. We can get clicks from people who are just mildly interested and not enough to purchase or do an action. They click the ads and then we have to pay and nothing happens. So we still need to do our research of the interests, age, male or female, what other websites they visit, including other factors that we must take into consideration before advertising on that website.

Landing pages are of an utmost importance. We may have great-looking banners and get the clicks but if our landing pages do not interest the potential customer we are going to be spending money for nothing.

Landing pages must be tested. Even if as an affiliate we must try to test various landing pages. As an affiliate they may only offer one landing page, there is the possibility to build another landing page, or have it built, and let them approve it. we can do it this way to save time unless waiting for them to build another one is acceptable, which they may or may not be willing to do.

Quick analysis of landing pages is going to come as your skill level increases. You will be able to check quickly by scanning the landing page, the banners, the offers, the websites that are available to advertise on, product features, layout and other factors.

Researching what needs to be done will go faster as you get better and better. You will be able to do your research very quickly in just a few minutes time. Check your offers and run your ads. once you become a true professional you will not waste much money by being in the wrong markets for that offer.

Working with the affiliate manager or the company directly to get a decent banner for the website may be required. This banner must be close to what the website looks like. The closer the banner is to looking like content that belongs on the website the better in most cases.

Getting attention to your banners by using off colors and graphics that look different than the site to garner attention may appear to be a good idea. In most cases this is a bad mistake. Matching the content and background to the site you're on is the better decision in most cases. This is a normal mistake to make glaring banners. This is not always true but a general statement. You will know when and where after you are trained.

Various opposite flashing banners or animated banners can be effective on entertainment type websites. These would include music or video or other sites that have an entertainment mindset. If people are in an entertainment mood they can be more receptive to these types of banners.

Advanced training is necessary so we must go further in depth which is beyond the scope of this article. People have tried banner advertising without knowing the proper technique, fail and thus spread the word that banner advertising is ineffective. This is simply a mistake as people are making big money doing this.
